Sybil
R. Kline is currently an Assistant Research with the National Center for
Research on Education, Diversity and Excellence (CREDE) and Lecturer in the
Education Department at UCSC. She received her Ph.D. from UCSC in Developmental
Psychology in 1996. Her research focus is on alternative assessment, sociocultural
influences on the development of cognitive processing, and cognitive socialization.
She is the author of "The PASS+S Dynamic Assessment" an alternative
assessment of cognitive processing, and the "One-Minute Test" a measure
of classroom attention skills. Her tests will appear in "Assessment of
Children" in a chapter on alternative assessment she is co-authoring with
Jerome Sattler for the 4th edition of this volume.
Sybil is also a Licensed Educational Psychologist and Bilingual School Psychologist. She holds the Bilingual Credential of Assessment Competence from the State of California and was trained with the California State Department of Special Education Se Sabe program in Guadalajara. Sybil has been awarded a UC Title VII Fellowship, Oustanding School Psychologist of the Year in 1986 by the California School Psychologists Association, and is entered in Who's Who in American Education. She has been the innovator and co-ordinator for numerous creative activities such as the Practitioner-Researcher Connection for the previous national center at UCSC, and the Bilingual Assessment Center for the Santa Cruz City Schools. She has made numerous presentations at state and national conferences, and published articles related to the education of culturally and linguistically diverse students.
