Since 1998, UC LMRI publications have been available through our web site free of charge. However, permission is required from UC LMRI to reproduce or reuse any of our research reports in another form.

• All documents (including but not limited to publications, research, audio, video, and photographs) available through the UC Linguistic Minority Research Institute web site are copyright protected, but are free for public use and distribution so long as proper citation and credit to UC LMRI and the author(s) are clearly given, and so long as no changes of any kind are made to any part of the document (text, chart, graphics, etc.).
• Written permission is required from UC LMRI to reproduce or reuse any of our documents (including but not limited to publications, research, audio, video or photographs) in another format.

When re-posting information obtained from the UC LMRI web site to your own web site, you MUST link to the UC LMRI URL address for that specific page or document. It is NOT permissable to download a UC LMRI publication and assign it a new URL at your own web site.

Example: Your site wants to publicize an article that appeared in the UC LMRI Newsletter. The proper protocol is to:

• 1.) Use the correct title document or page, being sure to cite UC LMRI as the point of origin/source (i.e.: "UC LMRI Newsletter, Vol. 16, No. 2")
• 2.) Use the UC LMRI URL address for either the document itself (i.e.: http://www.lmri.ucsb.edu/newsletters/v16n2.pdf) OR the web page URL where the document is found (i.e.: http://www.lmri.ucsb.edu/newsletters).

UC LMRI documents (including but not limited to publications, research, audio, video or photographs) may NOT be used at any time for sale or profit (although alternative options may be available for non-profit organizations who use the materials for teaching).

While non-profit organizations must not profit directly from the sale of the documents or publications materials, certain documents or publication materials MAY be sold by non-profit organizations for teaching purposes to cover the cost of printing; however, it is required that a reference to the UC LMRI web site (where the publication can be obtained free of charge) be included with the document. Participants must be advised that the materials are available free of charge on the UC LMRI web site.
