LINGUISTIC MINORITY RESEARCH INSTITUTE

Four University of California campuses were funded by the U.S. Office for Bilingual Education and Minority Language Affairs in support of doctoral fellowships in bilingual education and related areas (UC Davis, UC Santa Cruz, UC Santa Barbara, and UC Los Angeles ).

These fellowship programs nearly doubled the number of such programs in California since 1993. Each program was funded for three years, and then was eligible to be competitively renewed by the federal government.
