About The Steering Committee

UC LMRI is governed by a Director and a Faculty Steering Committee appointed by the Office of the President.

Members of the Faculty Steering Committee represent each of the UC campuses and serve renewable three-year terms. In addition to the campus representatives, the Steering Committee includes a representative from the UC Office of the President.

Dr. Kris Gutierrez: Ph.D., English / Curriculum and Instruction, University of Colorado at Boulder, 1987

Areas of Interest: Current research interests include a study of the sociocultural contexts of literacy development, particularly the study of the acquisition of academic literacy for language minority students. Her research also focuses on understanding the relationship between language, culture, development, and pedagogies of empowerment.
